Now that I’ve completed my final assessment for my journalism course I’m looking forward to getting stuck into some writing. During the time of my enrollment I’ve always felt guilty about ‘indulging’ in creative writing and even blogging as I should be working on my coursework (the danger of self-paced courses being that there’s always something better to do than study).
I have a few projects waiting in the wings:
My long-standing gaming, tech and geek blog;
A blog about kids’ style trends - design, fashion and all those things I love looking at but couldn’t buy (I don’t even know if this is just a passing fad in my attention span or not);
A parenting site that’s about raising kids, not just the consumerism attached to families;
I’m considering attempting some journalism projects but I might give that a little rest for now as my major focus is…
A myriad of creative projects I have been starting on including short stories, vignettes, a children’s story and possibly even a novel.
I’m really quite excited about the creative writing projects and will have a good six to nine months to be able to work on these, being one month into my year of maternity leave. I’m well aware of the chaos that will be the first few months in adjusting to being a new mother - and quite possibly a write-off in terms of achieving anything other than sleeping, eating and maybe finding time to relax with a book chapter from time to time.
